Australian Walking Artists invite submissions for the exhibition Reverberant Earth: New Walking Works.

The world reverberates with low frequency vibrations caused by earthquakes, storms and pounding waves. Our atmosphere has it’s own electromagnetic resonance, and even Taylor Swift’s Swifties can cause measurable seismic activity at her concerts. But what does it mean for artists to attend to the pulse of life in our cultures and in more-than-human worlds? What difference does walking make?

Reverberant Earth will feature walking art that crosses boundaries, wanders from traditional paths, and explores the many dimensions of walking as a creative, aesthetic and political act. We welcome submissions in all media, especially experimental, process-based and participatory walking works from emerging and established artists from Australia and beyond. 

The exhibition accompanies Walking Futures / Living Country – Walking Art Exchange. The Exchange is a three-day event (16-18 April 2027) that offers walkshops and presentations that allow participants to engage with walking in expanded, experimental and interdisciplinary ways. Finalists will be chosen by representatives from the Australian Walking Artists and the Grace Cossington Smith Gallery.

Participation fee $50.00 for selected artists only. Making a submission is free.
